How to Finance Your LEINN Studies: Grants, Scholarships, and the Talent Investment Fund

28 de July de 2026

How do you pay for LEINN? It’s probably one of the first questions you ask yourself — or your family asks you — when you discover this university degree. The cost of any higher education is a reality worth facing head-on, and LEINN is no exception. But the good news is that there are more options than you think to make financing your LEINN studies accessible, regardless of your financial situation.

In this article we walk you through every available route: from Spanish Ministry of Education grants to TeamLabs/‘s own program, including agreements with financial institutions. And we introduce FIT (Fondo de Inversión en Talento, Talent Investment Fund) — a tool unlike anything else in Spanish education that deserves a close look.

First things first: LEINN is an official university degree

Before getting into financing options, there’s a fact most people don’t know — and it changes the whole conversation: LEINN is an official university degree recognized by Spain’s Ministry of Education, certified by Mondragon Unibertsitatea, one of Europe’s leading cooperative universities.

That’s not a minor detail. It means students admitted to LEINN can access exactly the same public grants and scholarships as any other university student in Spain. You’re not choosing an alternative education with no official backing — you’re choosing a four-year university degree with all the rights and access that implies.

What exactly is LEINN?

LEINN (Liderazgo Emprendedor e Innovación) is a university degree built on the Mondragon Team Academy Model (MTA Model) — a methodology born in Finland over 30 years ago that puts learning through building real companies at its core. Over four years, students — LEINNers — form teams, incorporate companies, work with real clients, and generate real revenue. A LEINN team of 20 young people, by the time they graduate, will have billed a minimum of €300,000 and launched more than 30 to 40 projects to market.

It is available through TeamLabs/ in three cities: Madrid, Barcelona, and Málaga.

The myth that holds many students back

There’s a widely held belief worth dismantling directly: “Alternative or innovative degrees are more expensive and can’t access public grants.”

That’s false when it comes to LEINN.

Because it’s a fully accredited official university degree, admitted students can apply for the same state aid that the Ministry of Education opens to any university student. Specific conditions, deadlines, and requirements are published each year in the official ministerial call. Students can also access regional grants from their autonomous community and TeamLabs/’s own programs.

The related myth is thinking that if your family can’t cover the full cost, you simply can’t enroll. FIT exists precisely to break down that barrier.

The three financing routes for LEINN

There are three major funding streams you can combine to cover the cost of the degree. Here’s how each one works:

1. Spanish Ministry of Education grants and regional aid

LEINN qualifies for Spanish Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, and Sports grants — the same grants available for any official university degree in Spain. These grants are published annually and cover criteria including household income, distance from home to the study location, academic excellence, and more.

In parallel, many autonomous communities run their own grant programs for university students, which LEINNers can also apply for. Specific calls and amounts vary by year and by region, so we recommend checking the Ministry’s website and your autonomous community’s portal directly.

For the most up-to-date information on applicable grants, visit the official Spanish Ministry of Education grants portal.

2. Preferential financing with financial institutions

TeamLabs/ has active agreements with two financial institutions that offer preferential conditions to finance the LEINN degree:

  • Laboral Kutxa: financing with advantageous terms for LEINN students.
  • Banco Santander: a dedicated financing line under a TeamLabs/ agreement.

These options let you spread payments over time in installments, making financial planning easier for your household without having to cover the full cost upfront.

3. FIT (Fondo de Inversión en Talento, Talent Investment Fund) from TeamLabs/

This is the most distinctive option and the one that most deserves detailed explanation. We break it down in the next section.

FIT: financing your LEINN studies without collateral or interest

FIT (Fondo de Inversión en Talento, Talent Investment Fund) is TeamLabs/’s own program, reimbursable for up to 50% of the total academic year cost for households earning under €60,000. The name is intentional: this isn’t a standard scholarship, and it isn’t a traditional bank loan. It’s a bet on talent, with conditions designed so that money is never the obstacle for someone with the right attitude and commitment.

How does FIT work exactly?

The conditions are clear and transparent:

  • Aid of up to 50% of the total academic year cost.
  • No collateral and no risk for the student or their family.
  • Zero interest and zero fees. What you receive is exactly what you repay.
  • Repayment period of 10 years from the start of the degree.
  • Repayment begins when you enter the job market, taking your financial situation at that time into account.
  • Renewed annually, provided economic requirements and degree evaluation indicators are met.

What if I can’t repay the aid?

This is perhaps FIT’s most distinctive aspect. If, six years after finishing the degree, you have no income to repay the aid, the repayment obligation is canceled. TeamLabs/ absorbs that risk because it trusts in its graduates’ employability and in the quality of the education it delivers.

Likewise, if you don’t finish the degree, there is no additional penalty. If your financial situation changes during the degree, the aid adapts. If you want to repay the amount ahead of schedule, that’s perfectly fine too.

Who can apply?

FIT is aimed at students who meet these conditions:

  • They have passed the LEINN admission casting process.
  • They need financial support to cover part of the installment payments.
  • Household combined income is up to €60,000 per year.
  • They are committed to building from day one.
  • They commit to contributing so that more people can access LEINN in the future (that’s the spirit behind the word “fund”).

Comparison: financing options for LEINN

Financing option Managed by Maximum coverage Interest When repaid
Spanish Ministry of Education grant Ministry of Education Variable (non-repayable) N/A (grant) Not repaid
Regional grants Autonomous community Variable (non-repayable) N/A (grant) Not repaid
Bank financing (Laboral Kutxa / Banco Santander) Financial institution via TeamLabs/ agreement Up to 100% (loan) Preferential terms Per agreed installments
FIT (Fondo de Inversión en Talento, Talent Investment Fund) TeamLabs/ Up to 50% of the academic year 0% — no interest, no fees Upon entering the job market, based on financial situation

How to apply for FIT: documentation and deadlines

The FIT application process runs across four annual calls. For the 2026–2027 academic year, the deadlines are:

  • 1st call: submission from December 1, 2025 to January 11, 2026. Decision: January 23, 2026.
  • 2nd call: submission from January 24 to March 7, 2026. Decision: March 20, 2026.
  • 3rd call: submission from March 21 to May 10, 2026. Decision: May 22, 2026.
  • 4th call: submission from May 23 to June 14, 2026. Decision: June 23, 2026.

What documentation is required?

The application must be sent by email from the candidate’s own address to administracion@teamlabs.es, with the subject line including the applicant’s full name and the lab where they passed the casting. For example: FIT APPLICATION MARÍA FERNÁNDEZ – LEINN MADRID.

Required documents are:

  • A motivation letter written by the LEINNer themselves (not by the family). If the letter is not written by the admitted candidate, the application will not be reviewed.
  • Documentation of the household unit: number of members and ages.
  • Documentation proving household financial situation, which varies based on employment status: tax returns for the past two years and the last three pay stubs (for employed workers), registration and summary of the most recent tax filing (for self-employed individuals), or an unemployment certificate if applicable.

Cost vs. investment: a different way to look at the equation

Talking about financing means talking about return. And LEINN has a solid case to make.

When you invest in a traditional university degree, you pay for theoretical training and, at best, an internship at the end. When you study LEINN, you’re investing four years in real entrepreneurial experience, applied leadership, and hands-on innovation. When you graduate, you don’t just have an official Mondragon Unibertsitatea degree — recognized by Spain’s Ministry of Education — you also have a verifiable business track record.

LEINN students develop competencies that the job market values highly: leading teams, managing projects under uncertainty, international perspective (the degree includes Learning Journeys across three continents for intercultural commerce and adapting to high-complexity environments), entrepreneurial thinking, and sales and negotiation skills. These competencies, combined with the endorsement of the Mondragon Team Academy Model (MTA Model), explain why LEINN has one of the highest employment rates in Spain.

Seen that way, the question isn’t just “how much does LEINN cost?” — it’s “what is four years of real entrepreneurial experience with an official university degree actually worth?”

FIT reflects exactly this philosophy: TeamLabs/ invests in you now because it trusts the return — personal, professional, and economic — will be there.

Frequently asked questions about financing your LEINN degree

Can I apply for Spanish Ministry of Education grants if I study LEINN?

Yes. LEINN is an official university degree recognized by Spain’s Ministry of Education and certified by Mondragon Unibertsitatea, so admitted students can apply for Ministry of Education grants under the same conditions as any other university student. Calls are published annually on the Ministry’s official portal.

What is FIT and how does it work?

FIT (Fondo de Inversión en Talento, Talent Investment Fund) is TeamLabs/’s own program, offering reimbursable aid of up to 50% of the academic year cost, with no collateral, no interest, and no fees. Repayment begins once the graduate enters the job market, based on their income, within the 10 years following the start of LEINN. If there is no income by the deadline, the repayment obligation is canceled.

What is the maximum household income to access FIT?

FIT is aimed at households with a combined income of up to €60,000 per year. The aid is renewed each year based on updated income data and the student’s academic progress.

What happens if I don’t finish my LEINN degree after receiving FIT?

TeamLabs/ absorbs that risk. If you don’t finish the degree, no additional penalty is applied and immediate repayment is not required. The philosophy of FIT is precisely to bet on talent without passing the risk to the student.

Can I combine multiple aid sources to finance LEINN?

Yes, and it’s the most common approach. You can apply for Ministry of Education grants, your autonomous community’s grants, and FIT from TeamLabs/ simultaneously. You can also opt for preferential financing with Laboral Kutxa or Banco Santander to cover the rest. Combining multiple funding sources is the standard strategy among LEINNers.

Conclusion: money shouldn’t be the reason not to study LEINN

If you have the attitude, the commitment, and the drive to build from day one, financing your LEINN studies has a solution. The aid system is designed so that no one with talent and motivation gets left out for economic reasons.

The options are real: public grants from the Ministry of Education, regional grants, preferential financing with banking institutions, and FIT from TeamLabs/ — a program with no collateral, no interest, and conditions adapted to your financial reality once you graduate.

Investing four years in practical training, leadership, innovation, and international entrepreneurship through a methodology endorsed by the Mondragon Team Academy Model (MTA Model) is not an expense — it’s a bet on your professional future, backed by an official university degree.

The best next step is to experience LEINN firsthand. TeamLabs/ hosts Puertas Abiertas (Open House) events in Madrid, Barcelona, and Málaga where you can visit the lab, talk with current LEINNers, and get all your questions answered about the admission process and financing options.
